MY STORY

Although I am not particularly good at writing about myself, since you have landed here, I will attempt to share my story.

My name is Anna and I currently work as a full-time pet portrait artist based in Sevenoaks, Kent.

(P.s before we go further please excuse any embarrassing childhood photos 🙈)

Where it all began...

I had the privilege of spending my childhood in the Czech Republic, surrounded by dogs, cats, and the local wildlife. Being outdoors with these animals was a formative experience that shaped my love for animals.

My love for animals started at a very young age. I saw my beloved Leonberger dog 'Cita' as my real life giant teddy bear. (That's me at four years old hugging her!)

Even as a child, I possessed a creative streak, although I now feel remorseful for the many afternoons my mum spent scrubbing my artwork off the living room walls. (Who knows, perhaps I could have been the next Banksy!)

My next big step

After years of drawing and doodling in my school notebooks, I took a big leap and enrolled in the University of Brno.

My university degree focused on the conservation and restoration of old paintings, providing me with a diverse range of artistic techniques. I loved every second at University and made some amazing friends along the way as well as graduating with a degree in the restoration of art.

I also learnt that many people were correct in saying Czech beer is some of the best in the world 🍺...p.s if you're ever in Czech Republic you must visit Brno.

Saying goodbye

...to my family 3 dogs and cat was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do, but 5 years ago I made the move to London to learn English and work as a Nanny.

I lived in Clapham for the majority of my stay in London where I worked for an amazing family as well as a teaching assistant in a nursery. I loved this job so much especially doing art with the little ones. Their creativity would always bring a smile to my face.

In the summer of 2020 I decided to move to the countryside in Kent and focus more on my art.

Pet Portraits

As a massive animal lover with plenty of friends who have pets I decided to start drawing their pets as birthday and Christmas presents.

Seeing the happiness on their faces as they unveiled their pet's portrait was amazing, and after plenty of kind words and encouragement from then it became clear to me that pet portraiture was my calling :)
